Calm, practical support when your family feels overwhelmed

When caregiving, dying or grief feels like too much to carry alone, Heather provides a steady presence, clear guidance and compassionate, non-medical help for you and your family.

Our mission

Our mission at Guidance in Every Season is to provide compassionate, non-medical end-of-life support that honors each person’s dignity, choices, beliefs, and unique journey. We offer a calm, caring presence to individuals and families—helping them feel informed, supported, and less alone through every season of life, loss, and remembrance.

Support for every season of the journey

Every person, family, belief system and circumstance is different. Choose the care that feels right for you, shaped around comfort, connection and what matters most.

Guidance in Every Season

Each flower in this bouquet represents someone in my family and the unique love, strength and meaning they bring to my life; together, they reflect the heart of Guidance in Every Season—a reminder that through every season of love, change, grief and remembrance, we are shaped and supported by those who walk beside us.

We don’t know what to do next

In one calm conversation, we can sort through what needs attention, organize family responsibilities, prepare questions and create a simple plan for the days ahead.

I need a break

Heather can stay with your loved one while you rest, shop, attend an appointment or simply breathe—offering dependable, non-medical companionship and comfort.

Someone I love is nearing death

Prepare for the final days with a peaceful bedside plan, family rotation, Five Senses comfort, vigil support and a steady presence so no one has to carry this season alone.

We need support after a loss

When the funeral is over and others return to their routines, compassionate grief education, practical guidance and gentle check-ins can help you feel less alone.

Comfort Through the Five Senses

Familiar sights, sounds, scents, tastes and gentle touch can create comfort, connection and meaningful moments during end-of-life care.

Sight
Soft lighting, treasured photographs, familiar objects and peaceful surroundings can help create a calming and reassuring space.

Sound
Favourite music, familiar voices, reading aloud or quiet conversation can bring comfort and connection. Sometimes peaceful silence is exactly what is needed.

Scent
A familiar perfume, fresh flowers, comforting foods or another meaningful scent may awaken memories and create a feeling of home.

Taste
When medically permitted, favourite foods, small treats or familiar flavours can offer pleasure, comfort and connection.

Touch
When welcomed and appropriate, holding hands, brushing hair or offering a gentle hand or foot massage can provide warmth, reassurance and companionship.

Every person is different. Five Senses support is always guided by the individual’s comfort, wishes, culture and care needs.

Heather Rodacker is a Grande Prairie–based End-of-Life Doula offering compassionate, non-medical support to individuals and families. Her personal experiences with grief and loss, two-year social work diploma, 20 years of hospital experience, and work with seniors, people affected by cancer and families at a funeral home shape the steady, respectful care she provides.

Through Guidance in Every Season, Heather welcomes every person, family, belief system and tradition without judgment. She believes everyone deserves to feel safe, heard and supported through life’s most vulnerable moments.
